About Beach Relief
Back in 2018, I had the privilege of residing on the Florida coast, where regular beach strolls revealed an alarming amount of trash littering the shores. Initially, like many, I presumed it was simply left behind by 'lazy' beachgoers. It soon became apparent that the bulk of the debris wasn't left behind on purpose, it was literally washing in on the waves. The amount of plastic pollution was unbelievable - it suddenly became a very important part of my life. Frequent beach cleanups gave way to Beach Relief - an organization dedicated to cleaning up beaches, rivers, environments and doing what we can everyday to help protect our planet and preserve the health of our oceans. Beach Relief is currently transitioning to a Canadian platform, and is actively engaged in trail, roadside and beach cleanups, to help mitigate environmental pollution and safeguard waterways. We are also working on community initiatives and partnerships to encourage others to #dowhatyoucan to help protect our oceans.
How to get involved
Do what you can - Community Clean ups!
Looking to organize a cleanup in your community but don't want the responsibility of leading it? Let Beach Relief take the reins. We'll collaborate with you to coordinate, promote, and oversee your event, providing all necessary materials for the cleanup—buckets, bags, gloves, pick sticks, and even a water station—and ensuring it's an educational and engaging experience. Beach Relief will handle the sorting of collected trash, recycling what's possible, and arranging for proper disposal. Our goal is to make cleanups inclusive and enjoyable for everyone involved!
